New PC’s and Win7

So, as I have blathered to many people, I just recently built a new PC for my father.

The physical construction went great, and I was able to get Win7 64-bit loaded on the first attempt.  The major malfunction, however, came when I tried to trust windows to do the restoring file copies..

Virtualbox is apparently not Virtualsuck

I have gotten further with VirtualBox than I did with Parallels.  Woohoo!  It does seem to light my 3.0 GHz Core Duo on fire though, so I’m wondering if things would work out better had I configured the virtual machine to use both CPU cores as opposed to one.

I also discovered an annoying Ubuntu/Compiz papercut bug, in which compiz disables the ability to switch workspaces by scrolling mousewheel over the window switcher applet.  Boo!  Its also been open since about 2007, so I’m hoping somebody fixes it for 10.04.  I miss my mousewheel!

I hope VirtualBox is not VirtualSuck

So, after an incredibly brief foray with Parallels Desktop 4.0, I am fleeing back into the gracing comforts of VMware and Virtualbox.
